At Green Rocket we have a comprehensive green manifesto in place and we are constantly
thinking of ways of adding to it. Each month we have a green competition where
our people are encouraged to come up with new environmentally-friendly ideas and
initiatives.
It has become the latest fashion to show off your eco-credentials, but we take
the environment much more seriously than most. This is why we knew that if we
were going to do this properly, Green Rocket had to be a social enterprise.
We have consulted eco-experts to ensure that our office is as green as it can
be.
We use public transport to get to our meetings and chose an office in a central
location, near to a train station and bus stops to make it easier for our people
to get to work.
Our suppliers are chosen for their green credentials and include; Good Energy,
the Co-op bank and Green Your Office.
Our old office furniture, computers and mobiles are all recycled. They are
offered to staff first, then any remaining items are taken to local charity
shops or recycling programmes such as Magpie. Effectively everything else that
can be recycled is; including paper, glass, cardboard and plastic.
Recent initiatives that have been introduced include; providing our people
with bags for life to encourage them not to use carrier bags when shopping and
using locally sourced products where we can, such as milk, cereal, bread and
fruit. We have also just started a popular programme where everyone gets half
a day per month to spend outside the office working on an eco-project of some
kind. We are always on the look out for more initiatives in which we can get
involved.
